Jan Fernandez
Party on the Rocks Event Staffing & Bartending Services

Jan has been event planning since the 1980s. She moved into management in 1995 when she accepted a position as the food and beverage manager for a private country club on the Kitsap Peninsula. Managing a service staff, two restaurants and full service bar for a 200 member country club provided her the training and experience to facilitate multiple events and clients on any given day; providing appropriate staffing to best serve her clients. She later moved into the insurance industry and has been an active insurance producer since 2011. She and her partner, Claire, founded Party on the Rocks in 2016 with a liquor and general liability insurance policy. They had a few close friends and relatives who possessed Washington state MAST 12 bartender permits that jumped on board as team members. Jan quickly realized that if the company was going to grow exponentially, they needed to set themselves apart from their competition. She spent three months researching the Washington state administrative code and talking with the liquor and cannabis control board to determine if it was even possible to get a beer/wine/spirits endorsement. In October of 2017, Party on the Rocks received their endorsement and is now a mobile bar. Jan retains managing partner and compliance officer duties for the company. She is the main point of contact for the company’s liquor control compliance enforcement officer. In her spare time she is a shareholder and manages the benefits division of a brokerage firm! She sits on many local and state boards of directors to include the Washington Association of Health Underwriters and South King County SHRM, and will be joining the ILEA board of directors in July.

In 2018, she spent 6 months studying liquor and cannabis and nonprofit events, producing a popular toolkit on the topic for Washington nonprofits.
