When:  May 11, 2021 from 05:30 PM to 08:00 PM (PT)
Associated with  Seattle Chapter

This past year has disrupted our traditional culinary experiences and moved our food and beverage world into unique territory. Join the Seattle ILEA/NACE chapters on May 11 at Dockside at Duke’s for a northwestern style feast as we explore the challenges and changes of the past year with three of Seattle’s visionary experts.

Meet our Panel:

Chef Shelby Sewell – At the heart of Foodz Catering is the CEO & Culinary Director, Shelby Sewell. She is an accomplished, award-winning chef with over 30 years of experience. After graduating from London’s famed Cordon Bleu, she and her husband spent 7 years traveling through 33 countries, teaching, tasting, and learning. The experience changed their lives and ultimately became the inspiration for Foodz Catering.

Whether she’s working with a client on menu planning and event creation or donating her time and service to the community, Shelby infuses everything she does with laughter, enthusiasm, and a passion for globally inspired cuisine.

Chef Navi
– Born and raised in the Fiji Islands, Chef Navi Mudaliar has brought the culinary flair of the islands and infused it with traditional American food. From fresh Alaskan King Salmon topped with a mango and pineapple chutney to grilled chicken breast covered with a creamy papaya sauce, Chef Navi takes food that we all know and love and adds his Fijian flare to take his cuisine to the next level.

Sam Minkoff – Sound Excursions Productions

Sam Minkoff, co-founder of SE Productions, created a company with his fiance Cassie that would bring the incredible people that call Seattle home (and our visitors) together through shared experiences.  Over the years SE Productions has grown to include the local events company Sound Excursions, nationally touring festivals such as Bacon Eggs & Kegs and Sumo + Sushi, and an experiential marketing division that works with some of our favorite brands including Jameson, Lexus, Bud Light, Jack Daniels and more!  Most recently, SE Productions brought the first ever dining series on a professional sports field to life with Field To Table at Lumen Field in Seattle!

Chef Kristi Brown

Kristi Brown officially spooned her way into the culinary world almost 31 years ago at a small café in downtown Seattle, Washington. Chef Kristi graduated from the Seattle Culinary Academy in 1993. Following three years of professional cooking, she founded That Brown Girl Catering in her apartment which she utilized as a kitchen in the Central District of Seattle. From the beginning of her career, Chef Kristi has committed herself to preparing whole foods with love, knowing that outside of sex, nothing brings people together like food! She believes that healing happens through food and indeed, what she creates is food magic.

Chef Kristi is not only the Founder, Executive Chef, and Co-owner of That Brown Girl Cooks!, she also launched a Community Kitchen named after her mantra, 'Everybody Gotta Eat'. Her inaugural food product, the Black-Eyed Pea Hummus, has gained fame over the years and has a new home at COMMUNION Restaurant & Bar - her newly opened restaurant venture.

COMMUNION R&B lives in the Liberty Bank Building, an apartment community whose namesake pays homage to the first Black-owned bank in the Pacific Northwest.
